WE ARE HIRING :D
So.. here’s the position etc ———>
Weekday 2nd Shift Barista
Right now we’re looking for help on weekdays from 11am-4pm, Monday through Friday.
So that’s about 25 hours a week consistently. Weekends off.
We’re also looking for extra help in October, and then we’ll have additional hours around the holidays if you’d like to pick those up or stay at 25, up to you.
If you’re great with people, have a lot of energy and genuinely enjoy service, this can be a really fun job with a high skill ceiling and opportunity for growth long term.
Because this is a small shop and we make a lot of things in house, it requires you to pay attention, learn quickly, and put in the effort to succeed. Experience in a kitchen or volume cafe is seriously appreciated but not required. We do ask that you’ve worked in service before though, at least two years in anything from retail to concierge.

LETS TALK TIME & MONEY
This hire will be trained on everything, and that means some after hours time to get started. Three times after 3pm for two hours, as soon as you’re on board and it’s convenient. From there if we feel like it’s a good fit, your bread and butter hours will be Monday-Friday 11am-4pm. That’s 4 hours on bar and another hour to close. 25 hours a week. Two days off a week, in a row whenever possible.
During training you’ll be paid $11/hr to talk over guides and shadow behind the bar. After training you’ll be paid $13/hr + tips. Currently employees make about $19-20/hr with tips, but I’d guess on just weekdays it’d be more like $17-18. After you’ve been here for 6 months we also start paid time off.

LET’S TALK CULTURE
We’re looking for people who enjoy customer service wholeheartedly.
We mainly serve neighborhoods that are within walking distance. You will be making real connections with real people, you will see those people every day, they will see through you if you’re being insincere. If you don’t really enjoy talking to people, if that’s not you, this might not be for you. If talking to others gives you energy and you could do it forever, our community is awesome and you’ll have a lot of fun guaranteed.
We’re also looking for people who love the technical stuff.
We’re looking for people who want to develop a skill, that are driven to do so and will put in the effort to learn. To taste everything and ask questions. Coffee can be a deep and interesting craft. We have the tools/people on bar for someone to become a really excellent barista, and enough new coffee coming through for you to learn a lot about coffee and develop your palate. Which will teach you a lot about food in general. We can train you on the fundamentals and immerse you in the culture, but it’s up to you to want to improve. If you love learning, there’s a lot to love.
We’re looking for humble people with emotional maturity.
Doing specialty coffee in our little corner of JAX, we want to Improve every day and blow minds. With that, you may hear “this is the best coffee I’ve ever had”, or “the gas station down the street has coffee for $2, why don’t you?” You’re going to need to navigate these conversations without trashing other people or cafes, without getting a big head or getting upset. Just keep a cool head, keep killing it in your own lane, have fun and have confidence!
Lastly we’re looking for people who take responsibility.
Also called integrity, this is owning your workflow, owning your wins and your losses. That’s doing all the dishes, prepping all the chia pudding, and letting the next person know if you didn’t have time or made a mistake. Be open to advice on how to improve, and open to giving advice back on how we can improve. We do individual and group meetings regularly. It’s how we grow as a team, and you as the next chain link are just as crucial in that strength.
I think that’s it : ) Please fill out the form below if you’re interested.
